Lothar Sippel (born May 9, 1965 in Göttingen ) is a former German football player .
Career
Sippel started his career in the youth and top division team of 1. SC Göttingen 05 . Sippel made his professional debut on September 21, 1985 for the then second division club KSV Hessen Kassel . In his first professional season he played 15 games, but he did not score his first goal until his second season, when he scored the interim 3-0 in a 5-0 away win at FSV Salmrohr . After relegation to the third division , he remained loyal to the club and was the top scorer with 26 goals in the 1988/89 season, guaranteeing a return to professional football.
In 1989 Sippel moved to Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt , where he scored the 2-1 winner in the 89th minute on his first division debut against Bayer 05 Uerdingen . In his first two years he was mainly used as a substitute until his breakthrough in the 1991/92 season. Together with Anthony Yeboah he formed the storm duo and he scored 14 goals this season.
During the summer break, Sippel moved to league competitor Borussia Dortmund . Here he was only a supplementary player and only played one of his 20 season games over the full distance. Nevertheless, he was in the Borussia starting line-up in the UEFA Cup final second leg on 19 May 1993 , but his club lost 3-0 to Juventus Turin . After there was no improvement in his situation in the following season, he moved to Hannover 96 in the second division. But even this engagement was not a success for him. After two years, Sippel moved to league rivals SpVgg Unterhaching , for whom he completed two second division games.
At the end of the 1996/97 season he ended his career for the first time and moved to SF Ricklingen on the coaching bench. At the same time he made the A trainer license, which he passed with 1.7.
In February 1998 he ended his first coaching engagement and returned to the field. Sippel signed a contract as a player-coach with Vienna , which played in the second Austrian division . After the end of the season he finally ended his active career.
During the summer break he was signed by SV Arminia Hannover , for which he sat in the coaching bench until January 1999. In August 2006 Horst Köppel hired him as an assistant trainer at Al Wahda in the United Arab Emirates . On October 11, both were sacked after three losses in four games.
After the career
Sippel runs an event agency, LS Promotion , works as a real estate agent and works for the Lower Saxony Football Association . He also organizes soccer camps for the Robinson Club .
