Lothar Streblow

Lothar Streblow (born October 10, 1929 in Gera ) is a German writer . He wrote several dozen books for young people, some of which are part of series. He also wrote science fiction and erotic literature and two non -fiction books on eroticism.

Life

After completing his military service, he took his A-levels in evening classes and studied directing, dramaturgy and aesthetics in the GDR . Afterwards he was a research assistant for aesthetics, but also director, dramaturge and artistic director of a literary cabaret , for which he also wrote texts. In 1955 Lothar Streblow moved to the Federal Republic of Germany , where he lives as a freelance writer and employee of broadcasting companies. On many trips at home and abroad, he dealt with studies of animals, behavioral research and ecology. He has written numerous radio programs, radio plays and essays, Environmental, adventure, travel and animal stories and a number of successful books for children and young people. In 1997 his last book publications appeared as non-fiction books for primary schools.

In the 1970s he was in the youth book area a. a. known for his spaceship Pollux series, in which a spaceship tries to develop new sources of food on unknown planets and experiences many adventures in the process. The series, for which Streblow has received several awards, was published in the Boje-Weltraumablebnis series by Boje-Verlag . Klaus Bürgle drew the cover pictures of the series .

At the beginning of the 1980s, Lothar Streblow started another SF youth book series that revolved around the adventures of a single spaceship, space cruiser Runa . This series was published by Kibu-Verlag, but could no longer build on the success of the Pollux series.

Outside of science fiction , he also wrote a number of animal stories.

In 1977 Wilhelm Heyne Verlag published his novel The Planet of Colorful Ladies and in 1984 an SF short story collection entitled Sundera . In both books he again addresses the destruction of the natural foundations of life through greed for profit and war. Especially in his novel with its strong erotic elements one recognizes a gender understanding typical of the time, in which the solution of many conflicts is postulated through a stronger power for women - absorbed in their "peaceful" gender role .
