Doris Cordes-Vollert

Doris Cordes-Vollert (born January 4, 1943 in Hamburg ) is a German artist and author .

Act

Doris Cordes-Vollert attended the Alsterdamm art school in Hamburg from 1963 to 1965 . This was followed by studies at the Hamburger Werkkunstschule , which she graduated as a graphic designer in 1968. She then studied visual communication at the Ulm School of Design and, until 1972, at its successor institute, the Institute for Environmental Planning at the University of Stuttgart . At the same time she studied painting at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart . From 1971 she worked as a freelance graphic designer.

From 1983 she lived as a single mother with two children in Ammersbek near Hamburg. From 1985 to 1992 she taught figurative drawing at the Institute for Contact Studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg. In addition, she was artistic director of the Kunsthaus Hamburg from 1989 to 1991 .

Doris Cordes-Vollert lives and works in Hamburg-Eimsbüttel . The artistic areas of her "implementation of questions of perception" include drawing , object , word and concept . She works mainly with paper for drawings and book objects.

Her concern is "to make drawings like words porous to imaginative thinking." In 1989, Hartmut Böhme wrote : "Doris Cordes-Vollert works with the traces of time that is not human time."
