Lotte is a German feature film from the year 2016. Julius mayor led Director and is responsible for the screenplay responsible. His debut film was made without funding, only with the help of crowdfunding and funds from a canceled building loan agreement. It was shown for the first time in the section “Perspektive Deutsches Kino” at the 2016 Berlinale . The cinema release was on October 27, 2016.

action

The film tells from the life of nurse Lotte. She leads a very unconventional life and does not mince words. Actually, she would be more likely to lead a girls' gang than a responsible job in the healthcare sector. In the course of her life, she stumbles from man to man, from apartment to apartment and one night is called to her local pub to help an injured person. Here lies Marcel, who must have played an essential role in her existence a long time ago. When they both realize who they are dealing with, Lotte runs away and finds shelter with her friend Sabine.

In the next few days, a young girl will be admitted to the hospital where Lotte works. Lotte takes care of it, a slight affection arises. A little later, Lotte witnessed an encounter between that very girl and Marcel. The eyes of the three meet and Lotte suspects that there will be no escape for them this time. Now her daughter Greta enters her life. Lotte actually has nothing to do with family, but Greta is curious about her mother and stubbornly stays on the ball. Eventually, she moves in with her and the coexistence develops in a direction that is not educationally valuable. In doing so, they get to know each other more and more and gain respect.

In the end, the daughter manages to persuade Lotte to visit her own mother in her home village, with whom she apparently had no contact and no good relationship for a long time. The film ends when Lotte and Greta walk across the fields towards the village.

production

The film is Julius Schultheiss's debut. Lotte was premiered at the Forum of the Berlin International Film Festival. It was independently produced and funded by crowdfunding and private funding. The implementing production company was finderlohn film (Berlin).

reception

The feature film debut of Julius Schlutheiß, who was born in Marburg in 1985 and graduated with a degree in film and television from the Kassel Art Academy in May 2013, is about a young woman around 30 who has remained so young and freaky inside that you can her age hardly decreases. Lotte believes in her freedom, but this just bypasses irresponsibility. Greta, who grew up with her father in very orderly circumstances, is now getting to know the sweet scent of absolute independence: upbringing turned on its head. The nice thing about it: Lotte will not be brought up again. In the end, the viewer witnesses a small step towards growing up as Lotte begins to face her provincial past.
