Lou Barlow (born July 17, 1966 in Dayton , Ohio ) is an American musician. He is a member of the indie rock bands Dinosaur Jr. , Sebadoh and The Folk Implosion .

Life

Barlow grew up in Massachusetts . There he met J. Mascis , with whom he first founded the hardcore punk group Deep Wound in the early 80s , with Mascis on drums and Barlow on guitar. After its end, Dinosaur Jr. was created ; Barlow played with this band as a bass player between 1984 and 1988 three albums before he left the dispute. In spring 2005 Barlow rose again at Dinosaur Jr. one.

As a result, Barlow was mainly busy with his band Sebadoh , originally founded as a side project , with which he produced lo-fi music. From 1991 he also published occasional solo material under the name Sentridoh ; In the mid-1990s, the project The Folk Implosion was added, which, among other things , made an unusual name for itself through soundtrack contributions to the films Kids and Live Better .

In 2000, Barlow recorded half of a split CD entitled Subsonic 6 , the other half being the responsibility of Rudy Trouvé from dEUS . 5 years later, Merge Records released his first album, Emoh , which was released under his own name .
