Lou Lombardo
Lou Lombardo (born February 15, 1932 in Missouri ; died May 8, 2002 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American film editor .
Life
Lombardi first tried his hand at camera work in the 1950s , then turned to editing and worked as an independent editor from the mid-1960s. From 1970 he was involved in several Robert Altman films as an editor.
In 1975 Lombardi made his directorial debut with Russian Roulette , followed in 1984 with Kid Kane, his second and last film as a director. He then turned back to film editing up to and including 1991. He was also involved as a producer in the films The Hunt for the Maltese Falcon (1974) and Much Smoke for Nothing (1978).
Lombardo fell into a coma in 1991 as a result of a stroke, from which he did not awaken until his death in 2002.
His son Tony Lombardo is also active as a film editor.
