Louis Berlinguette , also Louis Berlinquette (born May 26, 1887 in Sainte-Angélique , Québec ; † June 1, 1959 in Rouyn-Noranda , Québec) was a Canadian ice hockey player and coach who, during his active time from 1908 to 1927, among other things was active for the Canadiens de Montréal , Montreal Maroons and Pittsburgh Pirates in the National Hockey League .

Career

Louis Berlinguette began his career as a hockey player with the Haileybury Comets , for which he first appeared in the TPHL in the 1908/09 season. After the team was included in the newly founded professional league National Hockey Association for the following season , he initially stayed with the team for another year. The winger then played for a year for the Galt Professionals in the Ontario Professional Hockey League before starting the 1911/12 season with the Canadiens de Montréal and finishing with the Moncton Victorias in the Maritime Professional Hockey League .

From 1912 to 1923 Berlinguette stood continuously for the Canadiens de Montréal - initially in the NHA, and from 1917 in their successor, the National Hockey League - on the ice. With the team from Québec , he won the prestigious Stanley Cup in 1916 . In the last few years of his career, the Canadian changed clubs frequently, so that from 1923 to 1927 he played for the Saskatoon Crescents in the Western Canada Hockey League , the Montreal Maroons and Pittsburgh Pirates in the NHL, and the Castors de Québec in the Canadian American Hockey League accrued. In the latter he was active as a player-coach in the 1926/27 season.
