Louis Brandt (politician)
Louis Brandt (born January 18, 1800 in La Chaux-de-Fonds , † November 7, 1866 in Brussels ) was a Swiss radical politician in the canton of Neuchâtel .
Life
The watch manufacturer and dealer was a member of the patriotic committee in La Chaux-de-Fonds and belonged to the provisional cantonal government from 1848. He took over the management of the finance department and the office of vice-president of the State Council and made his private assets available to improve the canton's finances. In the same year he was on the constitutional council of the canton . In 1849, after a break due to his political commitment, he took over the management of his company again. He was on the Grand Council from 1848–1853, and from 1852 on as a member of the Railway Commission . From 1863–1864 he represented the canton in the Council of States .
