Louis Grote to look
Louis Grote, Freiherr zu Schauen (born February 11, 1798 in Hoya ; † August 2, 1881 in Hamburg- Neuhof) was a royal Hanoverian lieutenant general .
Life
Louis, also Ludwig , Grote zu Schauen, was the son of the Hanoverian Secret Legation Councilor and Colonel Georg Ernst Karl Grote VIII, Imperial Baron zu Schauen (1764–1850), and his wife Luise, née von Oeynhausen (1771–1828). Grote took part in the Wars of Liberation as a young volunteer . He studied law at the University of Göttingen in 1814/1815 , where he became a member of the Corps Hannovera . Then in 1815 he was again a war volunteer and participant in the Battle of Waterloo . Like his father, Grote finally joined the Hanoverian army and, as a colonel, was commander of the 3rd infantry brigade, most recently in the rank of lieutenant general, commander of the 1st infantry division of the Kingdom of Hanover. He was a senior in the Grote family for many years.
