Louis Kürsteiner (born August 17, 1862 in Gais as Karl Ludwig Heinrich Kürsteiner , † October 13, 1922 in Zurich ) was a Swiss civil engineer .

biography

Kürsteiner studied civil engineering at the Polytechnic in Zurich (today ETH Zurich ). He worked on the Panama Canal from 1887 to 1889 and after his return to St. Gallen he opened an engineering office at Rosenbergstrasse 36 near the train station . Kürsteiner built water supply systems, railway lines, as well as the Kubel power plant with the Gübsensee and its supply lines with the Sitterstollen siphon . In cooperation with the Maschinenfabrik Oerlikon (MFO) he worked out the project for the Sihlsee with power utilization by the Etzelwerk . For 13 years the future Polish President Gabriel Narutowicz was his employee and later partner. In 1912, Kürsteiner moved his office to Zurich.
