Louis Kramp
Louis Kramp (born January 26, 1804 in Strasbourg , † March 15, 1871 in Offenbach am Main ) was a Franco-German lithographer , calligrapher and entrepreneur. In 1832 he founded Kramp & Comp, a company that is known worldwide in the printing industry in Offenbach am Main .
Professional background
Louis Joseph Kramp was a talented draftsman from a young age. He was therefore allowed to learn the technique of lithographic color printing in Paris from the then well-known printer and lithographer Joseph Rose Lemercier. After completing his training, Kramp made lithographs for the "E. Zink Lithographic Institute" in Offenbach am Main, based on paintings from the Louvre in Paris . He finally used his knowledge to open a lithography workshop in Offenbach in 1832 . With his partner Leopold Nickelsberg he formed the company Kramp und Comp from the former workshop. Numerous lithographs and art sheets of his work have survived.
