Louis Luebeck

Louis Theodor Lübeck (born February 14, 1838 in The Hague ; † March 8, 1904 in Berlin ) was a German cellist .

Life

Louis Lübeck was a son of the Hofkapellmeister Johann Heinrich Lübeck († 1865). He received his training as a cellist in The Hague and Paris with Leon Jean Jacquard . In 1862 he lived in Guebwiller in Alsace at the instigation of Julius Stockhausen . From 1863 to 1868 he worked as a lecturer for cello playing at the Leipzig Conservatory, today's University of Music and Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig . He was also a cellist in the Gewandhaus Orchestra from 1863 to 1866 .

After that he was solo cellist in the orchestras of Sondershausen , Frankfurt am Main and Karlsruhe , repeatedly interrupted by tours. In 1881 he succeeded Julius Stahlknecht (1817-1892) as solo cellist at the Royal Chapel and the Court Opera in Berlin, of which he was a long-time member.
