Vërbiçan ( Albanian also Vërbiçani or Urbiçan / -i , Serbian Врбичане Vrbičane ) is a desert in southwest Kosovo and belongs to the large municipality of Prizren .
geography
Vërbiçan is located on the western slopes of the Koxha Ballkan ( 2043 m. I. J. , west of the Ošljak ) in southwest Kosovo around six kilometers east of Prizren as the crow flies. Neighboring villages are north Dojnica west Gërnçar and south Pouska .
history
After the conquest of Kosovo by the Kingdom of Serbia during the First Balkan War in 1912, the Serbian government set up a local military administration . A separate municipality Vrbičane was created, which also included the villages of Novosella (Serbian Novo Selo ) and Gërnçar ( Grnčar ). The community belonged to the Srez Šar of the superior Okrug Prizren . This administrative division existed until January 6, 1929, when the area became part of the newly created Vardarska banovina within the Kingdom of Yugoslavia .
