The municipality of Prizren ( Albanian Komuna e Prizrenit , Serbian Општина Призрен Opština Prizren , Turkish Prizren Belediyesi ) is a municipality in Kosovo. It is located in the Prizren district . The administrative seat is the city of Prizren .
geography
The municipality of Prizren is located in the south of Kosovo. In the south it borders on the Dragash commune , in the east on the Štrpce commune , in the north on the commune Suhareka and Rahovec and in the northwest on the commune Gjakova . There are a total of 74 villages in the municipality. The area is 627 km². Together with the municipalities of Suhareka, Malisheva, Mamusha and Dragash, the municipality forms the Prizren district .
politics
The council of the large municipality (Albanian Kuvendi komunal , Serbian Skupština opštine ) has 41 members. The President of the Council is Nijazi Kryeziu . Since the local elections in 2009, the council has been composed as follows:
- Partia Demokratike e Kosovës : 12 seats
- Lidhja Demokratie e Kosovës : 11 seats
- Aleanca për Ardhmërinë e Kosovës : 4 seats
- Kosova Demokratie Türk Partisi : 3 seats
- Lidhja Demokratie e Dardanisë : 3 seats
- Aleanca Kosova e Re : 2 seats
- Partia e Re : 2 seats
- Partia e Drejtësisë : 2 seats
- Coalition Vakat : 1 seat
- Partia Reformiste ORA : 1 seat
population
The 2011 census found the Prizren parish with a population of 177,781. By 2017, this number is estimated to have risen to 191,565, assuming an average annual population growth of 1.11%.
In 2011, 145,718 (81.96%) declared themselves as Albanians , 16,896 (9.50%) as Bosniaks , 9,091 (5.11%) as Turks , 2,899 (1.63%) as Roma , 1,350 (0.76%) as Ashkali , 655 (0.37%) as Gorans , 237 (0.13%) as Serbs and 168 as Balkan Egyptians .
170,640 declared themselves as Muslims , 5,999 as Catholics , 250 as Orthodox , 541 gave no answer and 85 have no faith.
