The municipality of Zvečan ( Serbian Општина Звечан Opština Zvečan , Albanian Komuna e Zveçanit ) is a municipality in Kosovo. It is located in the Mitrovica district . The administrative seat is the city of Zvečan .
geography
The municipality of Zvečan is located in the north of Kosovo. In the south, the municipality borders on Mitrovica e Jugut and Severna Kosovska Mitrovica . There are a total of 35 villages in the municipality. The area is 122.4 km². Together with the municipalities of Leposavić , Mitrovica, Skënderaj , Vushtrria and the municipality of Zubin Potok , the municipality forms the Mitrovica district .
population
The 2011 census was not carried out in the municipality of Zvečan, so current population data are based on estimates. In 2015, the OSCE estimated a population of 16,650, including 16,000 Serbs, based on information provided by the municipality. According to the Central Electoral Commission, 10,012 eligible voters were listed in the 2013 electoral roll; this number also includes people living abroad. Another estimate from 2009 showed a population of almost 7,500 people.
