The municipality of Rahovec ( Albanian  Komuna e Rahovecit , Serbian Општиа Ораховац Opština Orahovac ) is a municipality in Kosovo. It is located in the Gjakova district . The administrative seat is the city of Rahovec .

geography

The Rahovec municipality is located in the southwest of Kosovo. In the west bordering municipality Gjakova , on the north by the municipalities of Klina and Malisheva , on the east by the municipalities of Suhareka and Mamuša and in the south by the municipality of Prizren . There are a total of 34 villages in the municipality. The area is 276 km². Together with the municipalities of Gjakova , Deçan and Junik , the municipality forms the Gjakova district .

population

The 2011 census showed a population of 56,208 in the municipality of Rahovec, 55,166 of whom were Albanians , 404 Ashkali , 299 Balkan Egyptians , 134 Serbs , 10 Bosniaks and 2 Turks . 55,810 declared themselves Muslim, 134 Orthodox , 89 Catholics and 6 have no faith.
