The municipality of Suhareka ( Albanian  Komuna e Suharekës , Serbian Општина Сува Река Opština Suva Reka ) is a municipality in Kosovo . It is located in the Prizren district . The administrative seat is the city of Suhareka .

geography

The municipality of Suhareka is located in the central south of Kosovo. It borders - clockwise from the north - with the municipalities of Lipjan , Shtime , Ferizaj , Štrpce , Prizren , Mamusha , Rahovec and Malisheva . There are a total of 42 villages in the municipality. The area is 306 km². Together with the municipalities of Prizren, Malisheva, Mamusha and Dragash, the municipality forms the Prizren District.

population

The 2011 census showed a population of 59,722 for the municipality of Suhareka, of which 59,076 (98.92%) are Albanians, 493 Ashkali , 41 Roma , 15 Bosniaks , 5 Balkan Egyptians , 4 Turks and 2 Serbs .

58,722 declared themselves as Muslims, 355 as Catholics , 8 as Orthodox , 467 gave no answer and 53 have no faith.
