The municipality of Vitia ( Albanian  Komuna e Vitisë , Serbian Општина Витина Opština Vitina ) is a municipality in Kosovo. It is located in the Gjilan District . The administrative seat is the city of Vitia .

geography

The municipality of Vitia is located in the southeast of Kosovo. In the north it borders on Ferizaj , in the north and east on Gjilan and in the east on Parteš , in the south on Macedonia and Fushë Kosova . The municipality encloses the municipality of Klokot located in the center . There are a total of 38 villages in the municipality. The area is 267 km². Together with the municipalities of Gjilan, Klokot, Ranilug , Parteš and Kamenica , the municipality forms the Gjilan District .

population

The census from 2011 showed a population of 46,987 in the municipality of Vitia, of whom 46,669 said to be Albanians, 113 Serbs , 25 Bosniaks , 14 Ashkali , twelve Roma and seven Gorans . 44,360 citizens declared themselves Muslims , 2,414 residents stated to be Roman Catholics , 114 as Orthodox , and ten do not belong to any religious community. 29 people did not provide any information and over 60 people could not find any data
