history

In 1844, Joseph Müller mentioned in his book Albania, Rumelia and the Austro-Montenegrin border the village of Lanawice near Prizren with 24 inhabitants, who practiced beekeeping .

During the war in Kosovo , Landovica was attacked on March 26, 1999 by Serbian and Yugoslav armed forces, which fired the village with tanks and artillery . Ismet Gashi's house, where 45 civilians gathered, mostly women, children and the elderly, was shot at with grenades. A grenade struck the interior of the house, killing a 16-year-old. As a result, the civilians left the house in a panic on a meadow to flee into the neighboring forests. Serbian soldiers shot at the crowd, killing twelve civilians, including six children and one pregnant woman; many more were wounded. The shell fire lasted until the afternoon, after which the soldiers broke into various houses and executed five other civilians. The following day, the minaret of the local mosque was blown up and the bodies near Ismet Gashi's house were removed. Of the 18 executed villagers, 14 were later rediscovered in mass graves, and there is still no trace of the other four.
