Shkoza ( Albanian  also  Shkozë , Serbian Шкоза Škoza ) is a village in southwest Kosovo and belongs to the municipality of Prizren .

geography

Shkoza is located approximately four kilometers east of the border with Albania and approximately nine kilometers west of Prizren. Neighboring villages are Vërmica in the west, Zhur in the east and Dobrushta in the north. The mountain landscape of Koritnik begins in the south of Shkoza .

The national road M-25 and the Autostrada R 7 run through Shkoza .

Shkoza has a temperate continental climate with an average annual temperature of 12.2 ° C and an annual rainfall of over 900 mm. In July the average temperature is 22.3 ° C, in January 0.8 ° C.

history

After the conquest of Kosovo by the Kingdom of Serbia during the First Balkan War in 1912, the Serbian government set up a military administration on site, with Shkoza becoming part of the newly created municipality of Vrbnica (now Vërmica ). In a census carried out in 1919, 25 houses with 146 - all Albanian - inhabitants were recorded for the village of Shkoza .

The 2011 census found that Shkoza was home to 788 people. Of them, 763 (96.83%) were Albanians , two Bosniaks , one Gorane and 22 gave no information about their nationality.

766 declared themselves to be Muslims and there is no answer from 22 people regarding religion.
