Louis Lang (born February 4, 1921 in Baden ; † September 16, 2001 there , Catholic , resident in Baden) was a Swiss politician (SP) .

biography

Louis Lang was born on February 4, 1921 in Baden, the son of the businessman Louis Franz Lang and Marie-born Rüede. The graduate of the Engelberger Stiftsschule began studying law at the universities of Zurich and Basel , which he completed with a doctorate .

As a result, Louis Lang initially worked as a clerk in Baden and Zug from 1949 to 1952 , then as a trainee at an insurance company until 1953. After obtaining his license to practice in Zug in 1953, Lang ran his own law firm until 1969, first in Baden, then in Turgi .

Louis Lang, who was married to Heidi Marie, née Schärrer, died on September 16, 2001 a few months before he was 81 in Baden.

Political career

Louis Lang, a member of the Social Democratic Party, was elected to the Aargau Grand Council in 1961, to which he was a member until 1969. He also represented the canton in the National Council between 1967 and 1969 . Immediately afterwards, he headed the Interior Department as a government councilor until 1985 , to which the Energy Industry Department was later attached. From 1972 to 1973, 1976 to 1977 and 1981 to 1982 he also served as President of the Government of the Canton of Aargau. In contrast to most of his party comrades, Louis Lang was committed to nuclear energy . After leaving the government council, Louis Lang was a member of the municipal council (executive) of Turgi for four years .
