Louis Mürset

Louis Mürset (born June 2, 1857 in Biel , † October 21, 1921 in Lucerne ) was a Swiss lawyer. He was Secretary General and District Director of the Swiss Federal Railways.

Life

Louis Mürset studied law at the University of Bern and the Kaiser Wilhelms University . He became a member of the Corps Rhenania Bern (1877) and Rhenania Strasbourg (1878). He graduated with a doctorate Dr. jur. from.

From 1885 to 1901 he was Secretary of the Federal Railways. During his tenure, the first Swiss railway legislation was drawn up and preparations were made for the nationalization of private railways. Immediately after founding the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), he was its general secretary until 1912. From 1912 to 1917 he was a member and from 1917 to 1921 President of the District Directorate V of SBB in Lucerne.
