Louis Renaudin

Louis Renaudin (born March 15, 1892 in Villersexel , † April 4, 1969 ) was a French classical archaeologist and banker .

He attended the Lycée Lakanal in Sceaux , where he met Marcel Bizos (1889–1974). In 1913 he began studying at the École normal supérieure in Paris . At the beginning of the First World War , he volunteered for the front in 1914 and finally received the Croix de guerre for his bravery . After his agrégation he became a member of the École française d'Athènes . From 1920 to 1922 he took an active part in the excavations in Malia , where he dug in the necropolis of Chrysolakkos in 1921 . He also directed the excavations at Dikili Tash in Macedonia . From 1922 he was a member of the Association pour l'encouragement des études grecques en France . From 1922 to 1924 he was general secretary of the École française d'Athènes. Shortly after his marriage to Christiane Bonnier, he began a career in the financial world.

He worked for the Crédit foncier d'Algérie & de Tunisie , from 1944 to 1959 he was its President and Director General, and its President until 1961. Since 1937 he was the administrator of the Compagnie générale des colonies , including vice-president of the Société française d'histoire des outre-mers .
