Louis Vulliemin
Louis Vulliemin (born September 7, 1797 in Yverdon , † August 10, 1879 in Lausanne ) was a Swiss historian . He was a member of various magazines, author of numerous historical works and translator .
Life
family
Vulliemin was born the oldest of four siblings. His father, François-Louis Vulliemin, was the city's judge and tax collector for the Yverdon district.
Career
At the age of nine and a half, Louis attended the city school in Thun for the first time . In the strict preschool, the environment is said to have been quite rough, but he still liked it there. At the age of 12 the boy went to the college of Lausanne and even before that he found a great interest in history . He went through the classes there without difficulty and later graduated from philosophy . After Vulliemin completed his high school studies, the question of which profession he wanted to pursue preoccupied him. Against the wishes of his parents, he then studied theology . On July 22, 1821, Vulliemin received his ordination and was accepted into the Vaud ministry . He quickly got a job as a parish administrator . In 1824 he married Louise-Françoise Galliard. In 1837 Vulliemin became honorary professor of history , philosophy and literature at the Lausanne Academy. He stayed that way until his death. At the same time he became professor of theology at the faculty of the Free Evangelical Church in Lausanne in 1847 .
