Louis Wilhelm Vopel

Louis Wilhelm Vopel (born October 7, 1838 in Bernburg , today Saxony-Anhalt , † December 17, 1899 in Groningen , today the Netherlands ) was a fur trader and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Vopel attended the Ducal Carls-Gymnasium in Bernburg. He made extensive trips to England, France and North America. He was also city councilor of Chemnitz , member of the Chemnitz Chamber of Commerce and Industry and chairman of the craftsmen's association. Vopel worked as a fur merchant in his place of residence Chemnitz and owned the manor Herrendorf in Neumark .

Between 1878 and 1881 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the National Liberal Party and the constituency of Saxony 16 (Chemnitz).
