Louis d'Aquin (born May 20, 1667 in Paris , † May 17, 1710 in Sées ) was a French Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop .

Louis d'Aquin was the great-grandson of the Hebraist Philippe d'Aquin (1576–1650), who came from Carpentras and was of Jewish faith, converted to Christianity in Aquino , Italy, and adopted a new name, the grandson of Louis-Henri d'Aquin (1602–1673), physician Louis XIV. , the son of Antoine d'Aquin (1629–1710), chief physician to Louis XIV., and the nephew of Luc d'Aquin , bishop of Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux and Fréjus . He was baptized in 1667 by Édouard Vallot (1637–1705) Bishop of Nevers . His godmother was Queen Maria Teresa herself.

He attended the Collège de la Marche and the Collège du Plessis and received the tonsure at the age of ten . Bishop of Fréjus

In 1697 he was appointed bishop of Fréjus in place of his uncle Luc d'Aquin, who had been deposed by the king, at the age of 30, consecrated in June 1697 and also solemnly introduced himself (though by a representative) in April 1698, but many had As a result of his uncle's personal protests, he became tired of the matter and had his vocation transferred to the bishopric of Sées in November 1698 , so that he was never present in Fréjus . Bishop of Sées

In the diocese of Sées he accompanied the death of the reform abbot of the Cistercian monastery La Trappe , Rancé . In general, he worked as an energetic reformer from 1699, which angered large parts of the clergy against him. Eventually he was wrongly accused of Jansenism by the king and fell into disfavor. Shortly afterwards he was swept away by a plague. He died in 1710 shortly before his 43rd birthday and was buried in the cathedral of Sées .
