Louisa Siefert (born April 1, 1845 in Lyon , † October 21, 1877 in Pau , Département Pyrénées-Atlantiques ) was a French poet.

She came from an old Protestant family, her father was German (Prussian) and her mother Swiss (Canton Thurgau). The singer and composer Renaud is one of her descendants.

At the age of 1863 Siefert met the writer Charles Asselineau ; a friend of Charles Baudelaire . Asselineau brought Siefert closer to modern literature and also supported her in her first literary attempts. With his help she was able to debut very successfully with her anthology Rayons perdus in 1868 .

Over time, Siefert also made the acquaintance of writers such as Victor Hugo , Jules Michelet and Edgar Quinet . Théodore de Banville brought her into the circle of the Parnassians and critics such as Charles-Augustin Sainte-Beuve also made a great effort to promote Siefert's literary work. Adolphe Lemerre then invited her to take part in the later famous anthology Le Parnasse contemporain .

When Asselineau died in 1874, he appointed Siefert to be his literary administrator. She was able to fulfill this task until she died of consumption in Pau on October 21, 1877 .
