Louise-Noëlle Malclès

Louise-Noëlle Malclès (born September 20, 1899 in Constantinople , now Istanbul , Turkey , † March 27, 1977 in Avignon ) was a French library scholar , bibliographer and Romance scholar .

life and work

Louise-Noëlle Malclès was a librarian in Lyon and from October 1928 at the Sorbonne . There she learned from the Hispanic Louis Barrau-Dihigo (1876-1931) and the historian Charles-Victor Langlois (1863-1929). From 1933 she taught library science for the diploma candidates, first privately, from 1948 officially. On behalf of UNESCO, she was in Lisbon, Madrid and Rome in 1952 and in The Hague, Amsterdam and Brussels in 1953. From 1962 until her retirement in 1969 she was chief curator at the bibliographical information service of the Direction des bibliothèques de France. From 1964 to 1966 she taught bibliography at the École nationale supérieure de bibliothécaires (ENSB, today: École nationale supérieure des sciences de l'information et des bibliothèques, ENSSIB). She spent her retirement in Avignon. She was Officier de la Légion d'honneur and Commandeur des palmes académiques .

Louise-Noëlle Malclès was the daughter of the physics professor Louis Malclès at the University of Clermont-Ferrand .
