Louise Dam Eckardt Jensen

Louise Dam Eckardt Jensen (born April 1, 1980 in Toftlund ) is a Danish jazz and improvisation musician ( alto saxophone , also flute, vocals, electronics).

Life

Jensen received recorder lessons at the music school from the age of six. At the age of ten she switched to the piano before she discovered her instrument, the alto saxophone, at the age of twelve. In 1983 she began a preparatory course at a music college, which she graduated with a diploma in 1998. After that she continued to take private lessons with various saxophonists. In 2002 she began her saxophone studies at the Amsterdam Conservatory , which she graduated with a bachelor's degree in 2006.

Jensen has worked in the Danish as well as in the New York music scene since then. a. with Peter Evans , Weasel Walter , Michel Doneda , Erica Dicker and Matt Nelson . Together with Andreas Pichler , she also performed in the Duo Seiki in Germany. With her husband, bassist Tom Blancarte , Jensen released the album The Home of Easy Credit (Northern Spy) in 2010 . In the formation of the same name (expanded to a trio by the live electronics engineer Damon Holzborn), she performed in Hamburg in 2012 in the concert series Frequencies ; also with a trio called Herbert Eckardt , which she led with Luca Marini. With the formation Sweet Banditry (Tom Blancarte, Brandon Seabrook , Kevin Shea ) followed in 2013 the production Farvefisen Blomstrer (Marsken Records). She currently leads (2016) the Alto Saxophone Trio (with Tamio Shiraishi and Chris Pitsiokos ), Louise Jensen's Sweet Banditry (with Brandon Seabrook, Tom Blancarte and Kevin Shea) and plays in a duo with Tim Dahl .
