Louise Gold (born August 1974 in Potsdam ) is a German pop singer.

Life

Louise Gold grew up in the GDR. At the age of 10 she learned to play the guitar and wrote her first songs. She studied singing with Patricia Forbes (Berlin), Neil Semer (New York) and Eugenia Visconti (Berlin). Since 1998 Louise Gold has appeared in various projects as a musician.

She worked with FM Einheit and the "Ensemble for Old Music Oberhausen". Own projects are the "Louise Gold & the Quarz Orchestra" and "Recorder".

From 1998 to 2003 she worked with Daniel Dorsch in the trip-hop duo "Recorder". The duo won the “Face the audience” contest by Meisel Musikverlage and BMG and played at the Expo 2000 in Hanover, a Fête de la Musique in Istanbul, the Midem in Cannes and the “Forte” in Riga.

In 2008 the band "Louise Gold & the Quarz Orchestra" got together in Berlin. The Quarz Orchestra consists of Louise Gold (vocals, songwriting), Hans Quarz (arranger, trombone), Florian Segelke (guitar), Hendrik Nehls (double bass), Rolf Langhans (piano) and Daniel Lunkenheimer (drums). In 2013 her first CD debut with the Quarz Orchestra was released on the Skycap Records label. The self-produced songs were recorded in the Berlin Lightning Recorders Studio. Only equipment from the 1950s and 1960s was used for recording and mastering.

In March 2014 she performed live for the first time in the USA with her solo project at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas. Shortly afterwards she recorded the album Terra Caprice in Berlin , which stylistically moves between indie pop and Americana. Louise Gold - Terra Caprice was produced by Guy Sternberg in Berlin and was released in January 2015.
