Louise Obermaier
Louise Obermaier (born August 13, 1878 in Halberstadt , † July 26, 1969 in Schorndorf ) was a German actress and operetta singer .
Live and act
After completing his acting and singing training in the mezzo-soprano voice, Obermaier initially worked as a soubrette . She made her debut at the City Theater of Pilsen in 1895 , initially in smaller roles. According to the stage yearbooks, she was engaged in Breslau in 1899, in 1905 at the United Theaters in Cologne, in 1907 at the New Operetta Theater in Hamburg and finally in Berlin in 1910. There she performed at Monti's Operetta Theater and at the Theater des Westens . Between 1920 and 1937 she appeared on various stages as an operetta singer.
Before the First World War, she also worked in films. She stood in front of the camera for recordings for audio images at the Deutsche Bioscope of Julius Greenbaum and at Oskar Messter . Her partners were the tenor Albert Kutzner and the actor and singer Gustav Matzner. In 1912 she played alongside Asta Nielsen in Urban Gad's “Dramatic Big City Sketch ” Jaget til døde .
She recorded records for the Gramophone / Zonophone, Pathé and Lindström's Odeon and Parlophon / Beka brands. She sang Hanna Glawari in the first complete recording of the operetta The Merry Widow at Zonophon, and Saffi in Der Zigeunerbaron .
Obermaier was married to the tenor Albert Kutzner (1876-1937), with whom she sang duets. In 1937, after his death, she left Berlin and turned to Bavaria, where she settled in Schliersee . In 1954 she moved from there to Schorndorf, a town near Stuttgart. She spent her twilight years in the Karlsfrauenstift, a nursing home in Schorndorf.
