Coordinates: 34 ° 27 ′  S , 140 ° 34 ′  E The District Council of Loxton Waikerie is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of South Australia . The area is 7957 km² and has about 11,500 inhabitants (2016).

Loxton Waikerie is located on the eastern edge of South Australia on the border with Victoria south of the Murray River and about 190 km east of the metropolis of Adelaide . The area includes 57 hamlets and villages: Alawoona, Bakara, Bayah, Bookpurnong, Boolgun, Browns Well, Bugle Hut, Caliph, Cobera, Devlin Pound, Golden Heights, Hartwig Corner, Holder, Kanni, Kingston-on-Murray , Lock No 2 , Lowbank, Loxton, Loxton North, Maggea, Maize Island, Malpas, Markeri, Meribah, Moorook, Mootatunga, Murbko, Myrla, Nadda, Naidia, Nangari, Netherleigh, New Residence, New Well, Noora, Notts Well, Oxford Landing, Paisley , Pata, Peebinga, Poogincok, Pyap, Qualco, Ramco, Ramco Heights, Sunlands, Taldra, Taplan, Taylorville, Tookayerta, Tuscan, Veitch, Waikerie, Wappilka, Woolpunda, Wunkar and Yinkanie. The administrative headquarters of the council is located in Loxton on the Murray, where about 3800 residents live (2016).

The Loxton Waikerie Council has twelve members, the eleven councilors, and the chairman and mayor of the council are elected by the residents of the LGA. Loxton Waikerie is not divided into districts.
