Lubāna (German: Lubahn ) is a small town in eastern Latvia , in the Vidzeme region . In 2016 Lubāna had 1759 inhabitants.

Location

The place is on the river Aiviekste and once had a railway station. There are about 500 year old graves here.

Personalities

Former Prime Minister of Latvia, Hugo Celmiņš , was born in Lubāna.

Lubānas novads

The city is the center of the administrative unit of the same name (Latvian: Lubānas novads ), which also includes the Indrāni community. (See also: Administrative division of Latvia )
