Urban played for Spartak Jihlava in his youth . At the age of 18 he moved to Xaverov Horní Počernice in Prague . In 1978 Urban went to LIAZ Jablonec , in 1982 to Dukla Prague . For Dukla, the midfielder completed 90 first division games in which he scored 18 goals. In 1988 Urban moved to league rivals Škoda Pilsen , but only made six appearances there. In the summer of 1990 Urban moved to the French club US Ivry. After four years he returned to the Czech Republic and joined the then second division club Spolana Neratovice . Urban then ended his career for nine years with sporadic appearances at the amateur club SK Černolice.

Coaching career

Urban was already working as a junior trainer in Ivry-sur-Seine . From 1994 to 1998 he was a coach at Spolana Neratovice, in the first season still as a player- coach . From 1998 to 2000 he coached his former club Xaverov in the second division . In the 2000/01 season Urban was Viktoria Plzen's coach , but was dismissed after eleven games due to unsuccessfulness.

From November 2000 he coached the then second division club FC MUS Most . Five rounds before the end of the 2001/02 season he was replaced by Miroslav Janů. From 2002 to 2003 Urban worked at Sparta Krč , then for two years for the Prague amateur club FC Dragoun Břevnov. In the summer of 2005, Urban moved to FC Střížkov , which had just changed its name to Bohemians Prague. With the club he managed to march through from the third to the first division . In summer 2009, Urban moved to FC Vysočina Jihlava . During the winter break of 2011 Urban helped out at FC Graffin Vlašim , but without receiving a follow-up contract. Ivan Hornik, the new boss at third division FK Chomutov, who has big plans, has given coach Urban a contract and wants to move up to the Gambrinus League with him if possible.
