Luc Marie Bernard Oursel (born September 7, 1959 in Boulogne-Billancourt , † December 3, 2014 ) was a French manager. He was also President of the French Nuclear Regulatory Authority (Société française d'énergie nucléaire).

Life

Oursel was the son of the naval officer Bernard Oursel. He was married to the biologist Sylvie Delorme and the father of four children.

Trained as a mining engineer from the École nationale supérieure des mines de Paris , Oursel succeeded the founder of the company and, for many years, the very successful physicist and manager Anne Lauvergeon ( Atomic Anne ), whose deputy he was until now. He joined the group in 2007 as CEO of the nuclear power plant construction company Areva NP ; Before that, he worked for Schneider Electric , the French Ministry of Defense and the Geodis group, among others . On October 20, 2014, he resigned from his position at Areva for health reasons. Philippe Knoche became interim successor.

Honors

On December 31, 2010, Luc Oursel was appointed Knight of the Legion of Honor by Nicolas Sarkozy .
