Luc Sels

Luc Sels (* 1967 in Merksem ) is a Belgian sociologist and professor of human resources management and university lecturer at the KU Leuven . He has also been its rector since 2017.

Life

Luc Sels completed his studies in occupational sociology at the KU Leuven in 1989 . He became research assistant in the “Sociology” department and was awarded a Dr. sc. pol. PhD.

From 1996 to 2004 Sels worked at the KU Leuven in the Faculty of Economics as an assistant professor before he was appointed professor for human resources management in 2004. From 2009 to 2017 he was dean of this faculty. He heads the Steunpunt Werk en Sociale Economie contact point .

As of August 1, 2017, Sels is rector of the KU Leuven. He had been elected to succeed Rik Torfs on May 9, 2017 , when he prevailed with 1,088 votes against the canon lawyer Torfs, who was able to unite 1,040 votes.

He is married and has five children.
