Luca Antonio Busati

Luca Antonio Busati (* probably around 1470; † probably around 1518 or 1539) was a painter of the Italian Renaissance .

He was in the area around Venice and Ravenna ; B. in Treviso and Faenza , active. Busati is close to the style of Giovanni Battista Cima and Giovanni Bellini . Influences from Lorenzo Lotto and Palma Vecchio can also be seen in his work.

Busati's last name can also be found in the spelling Busatti or Buscati.

Master of Disbelief

Busati has signed some of his works. Before art history could assign Busati's unsigned work to him by name, it was classified under the name of the Master of Disbelief (Saint Thomas) (Italian: Il maestro veneto dell 'Incredulità di San Tommaso ). This emergency name refers to his unsigned painting of the risen Christ with Saint Thomas from the Church of San Nicolò in Treviso.
