past and present

When Cromwell came to Ireland in the mid-17th century, Lucan was a village of 120 people. In 1758 a sulphurous spring was discovered in Lucan and the place became a popular destination for the Dubliners. In the course of the economic boom in Ireland in the late 20th century, Lucan finally developed in the direction of a satellite town in Dublin: While the old part of the town was largely able to maintain its character, large, architectural ones have been built in the south and east of the city since the early 1990s monotonous new development areas with countless middle class single- family houses for Dublin commuters .
