Lucas is a city in Collin County in the US state of Texas in the United States .
geography
The city is located east of US Highway 75 in northeast Texas, is about 80 km to the north from the Oklahoma border and has a total area of 23.8 km² without any significant water surface.
history
The place was named after Gabriel H. Lucas , a descendant of one of the first settlers in the area.
Demographic data
According to the 2000 census, 2,890 people in 945 households and 855 families lived here. The population density was 121.3 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 96.44% White, 0.42% African American, 0.52% Native American, 0.28% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, and 1.00% other ethnic groups. About 1.31% were of mixed race and 3.56% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 945 households, 44.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 83.2% of them were married couples living together. 4.0% were single mothers and 9.5% were non-families. 7.5% of all households were single households and there were people living in 1.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.06 and the average family size was 3.22.
30.2% of the population were under 18 years old, 5.3% 18 to 24, 28.8% 25 to 44, 29.1% 45 to 64, and 6.6% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 98.9 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 97.9 men.
The median income for a household in the city is $ 100,220 , and the median income for a family is $ 101,014. Males had a median income of $ 72,471 versus $ 38,182 for females.
