Lucas Schickhardt (born November 2, 1511 in Herrenberg ; † August 13, 1585 there ) was an art carpenter from Württemberg . He was a son of the carver Heinrich Schickhardt the Elder , the father of the famous builder Heinrich Schickhardt and a brother of the painter Hans Schickhardt .

Life

Lucas Schickhardt was a son of Heinrich Schickhardt and his wife Margreta geb. Homel. He learned the carpentry trade from his father. In contrast to him, who repeatedly carried out artistic work, Lucas largely limited himself to the manual work. In the years 1552–1560 he worked as a carpenter and foreman for the city of Herrenberg. In 1555, after the early death of his brother Marx , he took over his father's workshop, which his brother had run since his brother's death in 1540. Lucas Schickhardt only married Anna Hezer († 1579) in 1556 at the age of 45. In 1558 he was mentioned as a marksman during a draft in Herrenberg. In 1559/60 he made the entrance door for the Herrenberg town hall, which he provided with a carved city coat of arms. In 1578, together with a relative, he made paneling for the Herrenberg Propstei. It also included doors and was attached not only to the basement , but also to the cornice and pillars.

Lucas Schickhardt had three sons and a daughter:
