Lucas van de Poll

Lucas van de Poll (born February 6, 1630 in Utrecht ; † November 24, 1713 ibid) was a Dutch legal scholar.

Life

Lucas van de Poll studied law at the university in his hometown and was accepted as a lecturer at the law faculty on December 11, 1667. After he had established himself through his lectures in the institutes, he was appointed extraordinary professor by the University's magistrate on January 24, 1670, which office he took up with the speech Dignitate et honore Jctorum veterum .

Together with Johannes Voet (1647–1713), he was appointed full professor on May 11, 1674 and later he became professor of the Pandects. During this time he also took part in the organizational tasks of the Utrecht University and was rector of the Alma Mater in 1681, 1696 and 1705 . Van de Poll had worked primarily in the field of international law and inheritance law. He also appeared as a poet.

His marriage to Gertrud ter Borch, which he entered into in March 1671, remained childless.
