Lucas von Spreckelsen (councilor)

Lucas von Spreckelsen (born January 18, 1602 in Hamburg ; † December 9, 1659 there ) was a Hamburg councilor .

Origin and family

Spreckelsen was a son of the senior elder in the parish of Sankt Katharinen and councilor Peter von Spreckelsen († 1630) from his marriage to Anna Beckmann (1582-1648), daughter of the senior elder in the parish of Sankt Petri Lucas Beckmann (1546-1614) .

On October 31, 1636 he married Anna Rentzel (* 1614), daughter of the senior elder in the parish of Sankt Katharinen and councilor Hermann Rentzel (1576-1657). Of the children, the Hamburg lawyer Hermann (1640–1683) and their daughter Martha died unmarried. The daughter Anna married the Hamburg merchant Jobst von Overbeck (1629–1705).

Live and act

Spreckelsen became a treasurer in Hamburg in 1644 and was elected councilor in 1650. In 1655 and 1656 he was also praetor .

His widow donated a baptismal font and the altar to the former main church St. Nikolai .
