Peter von Spreckelsen (councilor)

Peter von Spreckelsen (* around 1570 in Hamburg ; † November 25, 1630 there ) was a Hamburg senior senior citizen and councilor .

Origin and family

Spreckelsen was a son of Hartich von Spreckelsen and his wife Catharina Matthiessen, daughter of the Hamburg councilor Henning Matthiessen († 1565). The Hamburg mayor Peter von Spreckelsen († 1553) was his grandfather. The senior in the parish of Sankt Nikolai Johann von Spreckelsen († 1560) was his uncle, his son Vincent von Spreckelsen († 1609) was also senior in the parish of Sankt Nikolai and his grandson Joachim von Spreckelsen (1636-1707) was again senior in the parish of Sankt Katharinen and later Hamburg councilor and bailiff in Ritzebüttel .

On February 4, 1599 he married Anna Beckmann (1582-1648), daughter of the senior elder in the parish of Sankt Petri Lucas Beckmann (1546-1614) . This marriage resulted in 11 children, of which 6 were married:

  2. Johann (1607–1684), Hamburg councilor ∞ Catharina Schele (1611–1666), daughter of councilor Wolder Schele (1579–1649)
  3. Peter (1613–1665), senior in the parish of Sankt Petri ∞ Margaretha Schrötteringk (1619–1695), daughter of the mayor Johann Schrötteringk (1588–1676)
  4. Vincent (1619–1651), lawyer ∞ Ursula von der Fechte, daughter of the council secretary and protonotary Martin von der Fechte († 1630)
  5. Katharina ∞ Joachim Twestreng (1587–1647), senior citizen in the parish of Sankt Katharinen and a Hamburg councilor
  6. Cäcilie († 1651) ∞ Peter Lütkens (1603–1670), Hamburg mayor.

Live and act

Spreckelsen became a hundred man in 1602, a building yard citizen in 1615, a treasurer in 1616 and an eight man in 1617, before he was elected senior elder in the parish of Sankt Katharinen for the late Jakob Eggers († 1618) in 1618. In the following year, 1619, Spreckelsen also became citizen captain and lieutenant colonel of the vigilante group in Hamburg. In 1620 and 1621 he was also a member of the Sixties. On July 30, 1625 he was elected head of the St. Johannis Monastery and in 1626 councilor. His successor as senior elder was his son-in-law Joachim Twestreng on April 10, 1626.
