Hans Sattler

Hans Ulrich Sattler (born October 15, 1935 in Pößneck ; died September 17, 2019 in Oranienburg ) is a former German FDJ and SED functionary. He was head of the office for youth issues at the GDR Council of Ministers .

Life

Sattler, the son of a working-class family, attended elementary school and the agricultural college in Stadtroda , which he left as a state-certified farmer . He later completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk in Pößneck. 1957/58 he studied at the youth college "Wilhelm Pieck" of the FDJ at the Bogensee . In 1958 he joined the SED and was second secretary of the FDJ district leadership in Pößneck from 1958 to 1960 . From 1960 to 1964 he acted as first secretary of the FDJ district leadership Gera-Land and in October 1964 he became secretary for organization and management of the FDJ district leadership Gera . In 1965 he completed a distance learning course as an agricultural economist. From 1964 he was second secretary, from 1965 to 1969 first secretary of the FDJ district leadership Gera (successor to Kurt Rundnagel) and member of the SED district leadership and from 1967 to 1969 member of its secretariat.

From October 14, 1969 (9th session of the Central Council) to June 5, 1976 (Xth Parliament) he acted as chairman of the Central Revision Commission of the FDJ. On the IX. At the SED party congress in May 1976, he was elected as a candidate for the Central Revision Commission of the SED. In 1976/77 he successfully completed his studies at the party college "Karl Marx" as a graduate social scientist . From November 1977 to June 1981 he was Secretary of the Central Council of the FDJ. Sattler was also head of the organizing committee “National Youth Festival of the GDR”, which took place from June 1st to 3rd, 1979 in Berlin. From June 1981 to November 1989 Sattler was a member of the GDR Council of Ministers and head of the Office for Youth Affairs (successor to Hans Jagenow ). At the 10th party congress of the SED in April 1981 he was elected a member of the SED's Central Revision Commission.
