Lucia Filippini

Saint Lucia Filippini (born January 13, 1672 in Corneto in Latium , † March 25, 1732 in Montefiascone ) was the founder of the Maestre Pie Filippini Sisters' Congregation .

Life

She became an orphan at an early age and was then involved in school training with St. Rosa Venerini . The order she founded in 1694 had the same orientation and was supported by Cardinal Antonio Barbarigo . She founded several schools in Italy , including one in 1707 at the request of Pope Clement XI. Her work made such an impression on the population that she was given the name una donna forte (a strong woman). She died of cancer at the age of 60.

Adoration

On June 22, 1930 she was by Pope Pius XI. canonized . Her feast day in the Roman Catholic Church is March 25th.
