Lucien Aguettand , actually Lucien Aguettand-Blanc (born January 28, 1901 in Paris , † December 14, 1989 in Nogent-sur-Marne ) was a French film architect .

Live and act

Lucien Aguettand-Blanc studied stage design at the Paris Academy. In 1921 he met Louis Jouvet , who brought him to the Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier . There Aguettand underwent practical training under Jacques Copeau . The famous architect Robert Mallet-Stevens brought Aguettand to film in 1926. At his side he made his debut in a production by Marcel L'Herbier .

From 1927 Aguettand worked for the production company Pathé -Nathan, for which he also headed the film construction department from 1941 to 1948. In 1943/44, Aguettand was responsible for the technically smooth running of the shooting of Marcel Carné's masterpiece Children of Olympus . At the height of his career, Lucien Aguettand designed the structures for several important films by Marcel L'Herbier, Julien Duvivier , René Clair , Robert Siodmak and Maurice Tourneur .

During the early 1960s, he gradually withdrew from active production design and began teaching courses at the Paris art schools INSAS , École des Arts décoratifs and École des Beaux-Arts .
