Lucienne L'Heureux-Arel

Lucienne L'Heureux-Arel (born January 6, 1931 in St. Jude / Québec ) is a Canadian organist and music teacher .

L'Heureux studied piano with Aline Letendre and organ with Conrad Letendre from 1948 to 1952 , after which she was a student of Raymond Daveluy for another year . In 1955 she married the organist Gaston Arel . As a scholarship holder of the Canada Council , both studied with Charles Letestu in Hamburg in 1960 . In the early 1960s she was a member of the Ars Organi ensemble . From 1965 to 1972 she was organist at the Ascension of Our Lord Church in Westmount .

From 1966 to 1983 she was a professor of organ at the École normal de musique , from 1969 she also taught at the Université du Québec à Montréal . As a concert organist, L'Heureux-Arel has performed in Canada, the USA, England and Belgium, and has been a guest at the CBC , McGill University and the Concerts d'orgue du Québec . She gave concerts with her husband, accompanied choir appearances and played the world premiere of Jean Chatillon's suite pantomime at Expo 67 .
