Lucifer ( spelling : Λucifer , pronounced: Ryushiferu ) was a Japanese rock / pop band that was founded in 1999 and was part of visual kei . In 2003 it was decided to split up the band.

history

The name of the band goes back to the successful manga " Kaikan Phrase " by the Japanese mangaka Mayu Shinjo , which is about a band of the same name. Λucifer was founded to promote the anime "Kaikan Phrase". The real band members adopted the same names as the characters in the anime, with the exception of singer Makoto, who did not change his name to Sakuya.

Λucifer made their debut on September 15, 1999 with their first single Datenshi BLUE , which was also the second opening of the anime (episodes 12-22). Λucifer also sang the songs for the third and fourth opening ( C no Binetsu and Toyko Gensō ). The band also sang at the beginning of the anime the songs whose lyrics appeared in the manga, written by Mayu Shinjo. An example of this is the song Plasmagic , which was sung by both the manga / anime band and the real band Λucifer.

The band became increasingly popular. In the same year they also released their first album Limit Control . The music was written by Takuya Asanuma ( Judy and Mary ), Chisato ( Penicillin ) and IPPEI & TAIZO ( FEEL ), but later the members began to write their own songs. The release of further albums and singles followed. Even after the anime ended, the band decided to keep making music.

On October 25, 2002, over two and a half years after the anime ended, Λucifer announced the end of the band. This was followed by her last tour under the title Λucifer Last Live 2002-2003 Energy from December 16, 2002 to January 10, 2003, which included 9 concerts. On January 11, 2003, after their last TV appearance on Thai television (which was also their first appearance outside of Japan), the band split and the individual band members began to devote themselves to their own projects.

The band had comebacks in 2010 and 2012 .

Solo careers

  • Makoto started a solo career under the name Makoto. For his first mini-album Vibration he got the support of his former band mates Towa and Santa.
  • Towa plays in the two bands Olive Sunday and Birth of Life and has also started a solo career. He's also one of those people who arranges many songs for the j-pop idol AKB48 and other groups in the field.
  • Santa also plays in the band Olive Sunday . Since 2007 he has participated in many of Miliyah Kato's live tours .
  • Yuki plays in the band DUSTAR-3 . Apart from that, he works with Janne Da Arcs Yasu in his band Acid Black Cherry .
  • Atsuro worked as a guitarist for several JPop bands such as meg rock , Marika and Chieko Kawabe . He also produces and arranges songs for an extraordinary number of j-pop artists, including Aya Hirano , Shoko Nakagawa and Minori Chihara .
