Luciocyprinus langsoni , also known as Shuttle-like Carp in English and單 紋 擬 鱤 in Chinese, is a predatory carp fish from Indochina. It was also referred to synonymously as Barbus normani or Fustis vivus .
Systematics
The genus Luciocyprinus consists of two species:
- Luciocyprinus langsoni
- Luciocyprinus striolatus
distribution
Luciocyprinus langsoni is common in waters in southern China and Vietnam. But it was also caught in the Telem River in Malaysia .
description
Luciocyprinus langsoni has an elongated and spindle-shaped body and its habitus is similar to that of pike and pikeperch . Its fin formula is: dorsal 12-12, anal 8. Its color is silvery with a black longitudinal band on the sides. It is usually 20 to 80 centimeters long, but in exceptional cases also up to 110 centimeters. Very large specimens weighing over 15 kilograms were caught in the southern Chinese provinces of Guangxi , Guizhou and Yunnan .
Way of life
Luciocyprinus langsoni is mainly found in the middle and upper water of rivers with stony or rocky bottoms. Little is known about the detailed way of life of this predatory fish.
