Lucius Marcius Figulus

Lucius Marcius Figulus came from the Roman family of Marcier and is 43 BC. Mentioned in the civil war after the assassination of Gaius Iulius Caesar as a naval commander.

Life

Lucius Marcius Figulus was probably the son of the consul from 64 BC. BC, Gaius Marcius Figulus .

When the consul of 44 BC BC, Publius Cornelius Dolabella , made his way to the province of Syria , which had been promised to him for the proconsulate , in order to enforce his claim militarily against the Caesar murderer Gaius Cassius Longinus , Figulus acted as his fleet commander. Early 43 BC BC he set up a squadron for Dolabella on the south coast of Asia Minor , which consisted of ships sent by the Rhodians , Lycians , Cilicians and Pamphylians . In May 43 BC Dolabella marched with two legions by land to Syria, and Figulus followed him with his naval forces. Presumably, the information in a letter from the Caesar murderer Gaius Cassius Parmensis on June 13, 43 BC , is also related . About naval maneuvers of an admiral from Dolabella on the Cilician coast on Figulus, although this admiral is referred to as Lucilius in the handwritten tradition .

Dollabella soon failed with his expedition and committed suicide, trapped in Laodikeia by Gaius Cassius Longinus ; the further fate of Figulus is unknown.
